The annual Amgen Tour of California starts this week with seven different races over seven days from May 12-19. The race brings together teams from Europe, South America, and North America, challenging riders with a new route every year.
This year, it starts in Escondido, and travels north over the week and finishes in Santa Rosa. Each day is intense, With over four hours of intense racing over some of California’s most beautiful (and challenging) terrain, the riders will cover roughly 650 miles over the seven days.
To help our friends at BMC Race Team, with riders from Belgium, Norway, USA, Switzerland, France, Italy, and Germany, prepare for the daunting week ahead, we held a kickoff party this week at our La Jolla store in San Diego. Unlike the typical fiesta, it was hold the tequila but full speed ahead on the sombreros and of course, a pinata.

But it’s not all fun and games for the team – they’re well-trained, ready to roll, and have been practicing yoga at their training camps earlier this year taught by lululemon ambassador Ted McDonald from Malibu.
