“When you wake up in the morning, Pooh,” said Piglet at last, “what’s the first thing you say to yourself?”
“What’s for breakfast?” said Pooh. “What do you say, Piglet?”
“I say, I wonder what’s going to happen exciting today?” said Piglet.
Pooh nodded thoughtfully. “It’s the same thing,” he said.

Ok, I don’t completely agree with Pooh, breakfast is not the single most exciting thing that happens during my day, but it is definitely high up there. When I have a nourishing, delicious superfood breakfast my brain gets into the happy zone, and it stays there all day.
My BFF Anya’s co-worker Edgar (so a pretty unbiased source, right?) said that since he started creating my Breakfast Criminals recipes, his energy levels are higher and he’s more focused during the day. Isn’t that reason enough to wake up 15 minutes earlier and start your day with a wholesome meal? It’s just a bonus that you can treat your breakfast bowl as your canvas, creating art with superfoods.
While I usually add green leafy vegetables to my smoothies to increase their alkalizing and anti-inflammatory effect, the green colour is often concealed by the beautiful purple shades of superfoods like Açaí and Pitaya. Not this time. This breakfast is full-on green. (Kermit would be proud.) Don’t fret: the taste is still creamy and amazing.
CREAMY KIWI & COCONUT SMOOTHIE BOWL
raw, vegan, gluten-free, nut-free, soy-free, no sugar added
1 cup spinach (fresh or frozen)
1 ripe banana (fresh or frozen—frozen makes it creamier)
1 big slice of lemon with zest
1 tbs hemp seeds
¼ cup aloe vera juice
2 tbs chlorophyll
¾ cup coconut milk
*Add ½ cup ice if not using frozen spinach and frozen banana
Top (optional; you’ll enjoy drinking this smoothie almost as much as spooning it from a bowl):
Granola to taste (I make my own gluten-free granola)
1 sliced kiwi
Coconut chips (I’m obsessed with Dang brand’s)
This smoothie bowl is full of magnesium, zinc, calcium, beta-carotene, easily digested plant-based protein and 10 essential amino acids.
It supports healthy bones, alkalizes your body, lowers cholesterol, boosts immune system, promotes healthy metabolism, hair, skin and nails, and leaves you full and energized for hours.
Still hungry? Breakfast Criminals has you covered for superfood starts to every day of your week.
