5 days before the Indooroopilly store opened, store manager Jess Waghorn was meeting ambassadors, unpacking Luon and Luxtreme, and sweating it out at her favourite hot yoga class. Want to know what went into the final last days before the store opened its doors? Jess gave us the lowdown on why she has total #joblove, and why she’s so excited for our new Indooroopilly store to be finally open!
5 days before Indooroopilly opens.
6am | wake up
Today I am meeting the team at the Indooroopilly Information desk to sign a waiver form to give us access to our store, which is still considered a building site until the end of the week! I haven’t seen all of the team in a week as I have been in Sydney training with other store managers so I am super excited about seeing everyone again.
7am | work starts
After meeting the team I have an HR appointment planned with one of the newest staff members to the Indooroopilly team. We are so lucky to have her as she has just done a summer of work for lululemon over in Toronto. Once I have finished off the appointment I will join a conference call with the amazing store managers from around Australia and New Zealand to touch base on our learnings from last week. This is followed by a regional check in to see how we are tracking as a region and if there is anything we can support each other with for the week ahead.
10am | product love
Time to join the team and we are unpacking all the fun new product for our store and oh my goodness I am excited to see it. I usually want to try every new piece on so it’s going to be hard to resist the urge. I need to remember to focus on the job ahead. That’s making sure our store is set up for our community next week. It’s really coming around so fast.
12pm | refuel
Food! So exciting, there have been a few new stores open up and they are all healthy options. We have made friends with RAW, an organic juice bar and we’re getting some smoothies organised for our guests on our opening day. I went in to grab some food from our other friends at Olive and Co. These guys are so cool that I decided to pay for the next 20 people’s coffees. Right?! I know, I love my job.
I have 2 hours to complete some last minute jobs through my email, party planning and fun things like that so I step away from the boxes to address this. I love having such an amazing team that do not need me around to do the task at hand.
2pm | ambassador catch up
Time for an Ambassador catch up with Martin Collier. I am so excited, I really haven’t seen Martin for a while and he has turned into such a great friend. He is a dance teacher extraordinaire. He even choreographed my wedding dance! Martin is bringing with him a close friend of his who is a yoga instructor who teaches in the Indooroopilly area, and it’s going to be amazing to put a face to a name.
3pm | leadership meeting
Leadership meeting, time to connect with my team and discuss what we need to get on top of before the door opens as well as once we get into the store.
4.30pm | #thesweatlife
Hot yoga, today I have chosen to go to Bonfire at Jindalee. The best way to let go of everything that’s on my mind and leave it on the mat.
6pm | organic food & snuggles
I swing by Wray Organics Indooroopilly on my way home to pick up a couple of things for dinner. My lovely husband left a message on my phone while I was in class to grab some bits and pieces.
Time for food and the favourite part of my day, snuggles.
I’m absolutely pumped about what the next few days hold and I cannot wait to show everyone our new store.
We’ve just opened our doors to the Indooroopilly community this week! To find out more about the store, head here.
