your SeaWheeze digital packing list
With SeaWheeze just days away, we want to make sure you have all the tools to capture, share and soak up the experience to the MAX! Here are a few pro-tips from our social media manager, Sairah, on how to keep it digital at SeaWheeze.
get a roaming plan
Coming home from vacation to large-and-in-charge phone bill blows. If you’re coming from south of the border, it’s worth looping in with your local cellular service provider to see what kind of roaming plans they offer. Let’s face it, Vancouver is a looker and you’re going to want Instagram the heck out of everything, so lean towards a plan that offers a lot of data.
the device i can’t live without
Meet the Mophie. Available at most Apple Stores and online for about a hundred bucks, the Mophie is an extra battery pack for your iPhone. The best part? It clips around your phone for a barely-there feeling. If you don’t have time to pick up a Mophie, have no fear. There are plenty of outlets at the Vancouver Convention Centre and we will also have a small charging pod set up.
must-have app (besides THE SeaWheeze APP, of course)
GroupMe is a game-changer when you’re travelling in a group. It allows you and your friends to all be in one conversation so you can keep track of each other. What separates it from iChat, you ask? You get to choose your own avatar, it has its own family of awesome emoticons, and any pictures you share in the group go into an album that the whole group can access. Give it a go and let me know what you think!
these days no event is complete without ’em
You guessed it: Hashtags. We want to see and read all your SeaWheeze adventures so go big on the sharing. Your official half marathon hashtag is… wait for it… #SeaWheeze. Want to add a little bit of extra Vancouver flavour? We’ve thrown in #Vansweaty to spice things up a bit.
140 characters or less
Want to know who to follow other than the person running in front of you? We’ll be telling the SeaWheeze story all weekend long on Twitter. Here are your two key players:
@SeaWheeze: this is your go-to for all run-weekend information and updates
@lululemonlive: fast and furious fun. If you can’t attend or you’re hanging out at one of our amazing cheer stations, I will be travelling the course sharing all the action from @lululemonlive.
If you want to see it all come together or have friends following along at home, hit up social.seawheeze.com to see a live feed of all the action.
finish line time
You came, you saw, you conquered, and now you just want to know how long it took. After you cross the finish line, race results will be available on SeaWheeze.com and on your trusty sidekick, the SeaWheeze App.
yoga. run. party
While getting re-tweeted and uploading photos to Instagram is cool, don’t forget to lift your head from your phone and really soak in all the events of the weekend. People are travelling from all over the world to Runcouver and I encourage you to say “hi to the person next to you, and to find out where they’re from. Also, a tip for spectators: watch from the cheer stations, which are the next best thing to crossing the finish line yourself. (Plus, I’m sure your loved ones would love the encouragement.)
That’s it, you’re all set. Get your batteries charged, eat your carbs, and I’ll see you at SeaWheeze!
